旅はここから。
Every journey begins at home.
I leave in early April from the small Essex coastal town where I’ve lived my entire life. First, I’ll ride to Harwich and sail overseas. Then the adventure begins.

It’s my time
to explore the world.
今こそ、世界を探検する時。
My name is Toby Scales. In early April, I’ll leave the small coastal town in Essex where I’ve lived my entire life, ride to Harwich and sail overseas into a new adventure.
Making this opportunity means leaving behind the family I love and my professional career in computer design. Those sacrifices aren’t small, but neither is my dream of becoming an adventurer.
I’ve always lived life at speed: fast cars, fast bikes, always moving. Now I want to slow down and discover something different. To reconnect with nature and what makes us human. To get back to basics, live freely and live closer to the land.

僕の名前はトビー・スケールズ。4月上旬、生まれてからずっと暮らしてきたエセックスの小さな海辺の町を出発します。まずはハリッジまで自転車で走り、船で海を渡って、新しい冒険へと踏み出します。
この機会をつかむために、大切な家族のそばを離れ、コンピューターデザインの仕事も手放します。簡単な決断ではありません。それでも、冒険家になるという夢を追いかけたいのです。
速い車、速いバイク。これまでの僕は、いつも速いペースで生きてきました。今は少し速度を落として、自然とのつながりや、人間らしい生き方を見つめ直したい。暮らしの原点に戻り、自由に、大地に寄り添って生きたいと思っています。
